Welcome to our world of letters, paper and ink!

Here we explain what to expect at one of our workshops, what to bring and how to prepare for it.

Our workshops are designed with both beginners and more advanced calligraphers in mind.

The morning session 10am-12pm is devoted to learning the script and practise. Beginners can expect to be guided in the basic strokes of the script. Printed notes and examples will be given out for you to follow. Everyone else will analyse their practise sheets and work on improving their letterforms. This artform requires a lot of practice so everyone benefits here! You are welcome to wander around the room and see what people are doing.

The afternoon session 12.30pm – 2.30pm will have exercises and projects using the script of the day and is more suitable for more experienced calligraphers, though beginners are also welcome to stay if they’d like to continue practising. After 2.30, we have an optional “show and tell” display so we can look at what everyone has done, which is a highlight of the day.

Morning session only: $20 for members $25 non-members

All day: $40 members and $50 non-members

Every now and then we invite a renown interstate or overseas calligrapher to tutor us. It’s a great opportunity to learn from the best! These workshops are usually more expensive.

Morning tea is provided. Anything yummy you bring along to share is welcomed. We usually have a quick break around 11. Lunch 12.30-1pm is BYO. There is no shop close by to purchase lunch so come prepared. It’s a good opportunity to chat with others and check out their tools and kits.
