Back to Basics – Italic
March 17 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Christine Farmer will lead an Italic workshop, suitable for beginners.
Extensions and variations will be offered for those with more experience.
Italic – Basics and beyond
For all levels.
For those who have not studied Italic we will begin with the basic strokes, preferably using a 3.8 Pilot Parallel Pen, or a size 4 Tape nib, or a Speedball C. Some pens and nibs will be available to buy.
For those with a good knowledge of the structure of Italic, the possible variations are almost endless. We will explore as many of these as time allows, applying some to a variety of words and phrases.
Bring your usual gear, with a variety of pen sizes and types. Make sure you have layout paper which does not bleed. A4 or A3 Arttec bond layout is usually good. Include a sloped or lap board if you like to use one.
If you are an absolute beginner, Christine can provide a basic kit (bond paper and the 3.8 Pilot pen) for $30.
Cost: $30 members / $40 non-members plus materials, if required.
