“Flat Brush Lettering” with Jo
March 15 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm AEDT

Cost: Half day members/non members $20/$25, full day $40/$50
In the morning session we’ll explore the use of a different tool, the wide-edged brush. The brush has a beautiful feel as it glides smoothly across the paper. Learn how to handle it and the beautiful effects you can achieve. You’ll be writing in a script you already know and would like to practise. Beginners will be provided with a script exemplar.
In the afternoon session we’ll apply our brush lettering to different papers, explore compositions and pattern making.

* notes on buying a flat brush
Of course you get what you pay for so buy the best quality you can afford. Winsor & Newton is a good brand. (Officeworks have a Born flat brush size 12 $12.75 quality unknown)
The brush should be 1/2″ wide across the writing edge, have a short handle and hairs no longer than 1.5cm. The writing edge should be thin so the hairs should come together in. thin strtaight line.
**If you don’t want to buy a brush you can use an automatic pen about the same size. Jo also has some of these for you to use.
Aside from the brush, don’t buy anything else. Jo has materials to share.
